Leadership is Action and Example: Naevo

- WAISEA NASOKIA Edited by Jeremiah Ligairi waisea.nasokia@fijisun.com.fj

Leadership is not a position or a title, it is action and example. Nawaka District School head boy Jokimi Naevo made those comments after being badged this week.

He said leadership was not about a title or a designation.

“It’s about impact, influence, and inspiration,” he said.

The Nawaka native added that the school’s roll stood at 583; tagged as a medium school and he would be assisted by the cooperation of 64 student council members.

He said that he wants to be confidence in his role.

He thanked all the teachers and staff for trusting and believing in him.

Head girl Adi Kuila Kalolaini shared the theme: Leadership is not a title. It’s a behaviour. Live it.

She was emotional and at the same time determined to do her best.

She wished her mum would have been part of her prefect induction.

“The message is to work hard and do things from your heart and God will do the rest,” she said.

She aspires to become a nurse.

Fiji National University Lecturer (FNU) Rohini Chand officiated and said: “Leaders should be inspiring. They bring out the best in the people around them.

“Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you must inspire the students around you to thrive, work with commitment not only for the school but for the betterment of the community and the society,” she said.

“I need to be an ordinary person with extraordinary determination. See the opportunities in every difficulty rather than the difficulty in every opportunity.”
