Fiji, Vanuatu prepare for Mini Games at Fiji Open event
Arecord 97 players including those from the region are taking part in the Tattslotto Fiji Open Tennis Championship 2022 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club that got underway yesterday.
Top players in the region include Junior Benjamin (Solomon Islands), Charles Cornish (Fiji), and Zachary Sand (Vanuatu) who are part of the top four.
Tarani Kamoe and Ruby Coffin are leading the rivalry in the women division.
Tennis Fiji project Officer Julia Gorman said, “We have 97 players from Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia and
New Zealand and Solomon Islands chasing the prize money for the Men’s and Women’s Open categories.
“There has been a lapse of two years. We are keen and happy to have it back again. Even though it is not the number we have been anticipating, the good thing it has started.”
The Vanuatu and Fiji teams preparing for the Pacific Mini Games in June are also participating.
