SODELPA does not support same sex marriage, COVID19 vaccine
The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODEPLA) Leader Viliame Gavoka has made it clear that they do not support same sex marriage and the administration of COVID19 vaccines.
He highlighted these controversial issues during a public panel discussion with four other political parties on Thursday night.
Mr Gavoka said they abided by Christian principles of not allowing same-sex marriage.
“We are totally against it,” he said.
“We love the community, they are our sisters, brothers and all that. They contribute a lot to our country. We will support them all the way to realise their full potential.
COVID19 Vaccine
As for the COVID-19 vaccines that Fijians have been administered with in the fight against the virus, he said they would not allow for its further use to Fijians.
“Because COVID-19 was unprecedented, we had to survive. The choices were very difficult, extraordinary time.
“We were linking up with other countries who were pushing for the vaccine. Difficult time, difficult decisions. And certainly, going forward, we have learned a lot from that.
“Now that we know, we would really advise against it. I have met beautiful people who are now unemployed.
“They said they lost their job because they did not get the vaccine.
The public panel discussion organised by the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum on promoting and protecting human rights in Fiji comes as the country heads into another general election.
Political parties such as the Fiji Labour Party, New Generation Party, Unity Fiji Party and the Freedom Alliance Party were part of the discussion.
