The new head prefects of Nakaikogo Sanatan Dharam Primary School took an oath on Friday to honor and carry out their duties to the best of their abilities.

The school badged 80 prefects including class prefects, school prefects, cultural leaders, library assistants, deputies and school heads yesterday.

Head girl Aditi Nandini Singh said she was inspired by her family to take the role of a leader.

“My father and sister motivated me to take up this role; they were the head prefects of this school during their time,” she said.

The 13-year-old is also aiming to stop bullying and help teachers make the school a much safer environment for everyone.

She said a leader should be confident and disciplined. “Leaders lead by example, they have to do things that they want others to follow,” she said.

Head boy Ryan Kartik Singh, 13, echoed similar sentiments about leadership. He said a leader should be a role model and set examples.

He also said he was proud to be elected as the head boy this year.

“I will do the right thing and help students to become better versions of themselves,” he said. He dedicated his achievement to his parents.

He wants to inspire his younger sister to achieve leadership role.

The Deputy Commisioner of Police, Itendra Nair reminded the leaders to lead by example. The school has a roll of more then 500 students.
