Head girl Iliana Lesimacuata and head boy Savenaca Tawake have vowed to assist teachers in combating bullying in their school.

The duo were badged during the Ratu Rusiate Nabuta Memorial School prefect’s induction 2022 in Nailaga, Ba this week.

Iliana, 13, said the student council was working with the teachers and parents on ways to eradicate such issues before it gets out of hand. However such issues remain prevalent in many schools around the country.

“I am happy to be badged as head girl, I did not dream of this, but it is an honour,” she said.

“I want to just help friends and teachers in school; I wasn’t expecting this. I thank my teachers and relatives, especially my role model, Tai La, my grandmother.”

She had been badged before in various lower grades in Year 3, and Year 5.

Her ambition is to become a doctor.

Head boy Savenaca also shared such sentiments about looking the school roll.

The 14-year-old said that he is happy to be given the challenge to lead.

“I never thought to be badged as head boy, but I am proud. I would like to thank my teacher and my relatives for all the support,” he said.

He aims to attain a doctorate to become a professor.
