Former manager faces theft charge, granted bailed

- SALOTE QALUBAU

A former Oceania Water Groups Limited and Water Imports Fiji officer manager charged with one count of theft was granted bail by the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday. Abdul Kadar, 51, allegedly stole $224,563.46 between August 29, 2018, and April 30, 2019 by raising falsified documents while employed as the office manager for Oceania Water Groups Limited and Water Imports Fiji.

The matter was heard before Magistrate Senikavika Jiuta. The prosecution did not object to bail, but requested strict bail conditions.

Magistrate Jiuta granted bail on the condition that a stop departure be issued, that Kadar pays a bail bond of $1000, attend every court sitting, surrender all travel documents, not change his address, not interfere with prosecution witnesses, not re-offend and provide one surety to pay a bond of $500. Magistrate Jiuta adjourned the matter to August 15 for disclosures.
