Minnows target semifinal berth

Returning to play in the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament after six years means a lot to the Security Systems Management Inc Tailevu/Naitasiri football side and they are ready to deliver, says their head coach.

Speaking to SUNsports, Priyant Manu said, they are going to give their best.

They are in Group B and face hosts Nadroga, Nasinu, Ba and defending champions Suva while Group A includes Nadi, Lautoka, Rewa, Navua and Labasa.

“It means a lot for the boys, coming back to playing in top level tournament­s,” Manu said.

“Some of the boys will be making their first major outing in Fiji FACT. So, we’ll work hard and try to pull off some magic in this tournament.”

Tailevu/Naitasiri take on Nasinu in their Fiji FACT group opener at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, tomorrow.

“It’s a tough pool for us, having the hosts (Nadroga) on our pool as well as Suva.

“We need to work hard to be competitiv­e in this tournament.

“Our aim is to make it to the semi final, we will try hard in our first two games to get the maximum points. This allow us to go forward in the tournament,” Manu added.

“Looking at the format, it is good enough for the boys to recover and reset for other pool games.”

Ticket prices at ANZ Stadium; grandstand is $15, children will be $8. The embankment tickets are adults is $10 while for children is $5.

The game will move to Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, from May 26-29 with the semifinals and final to be played on June 4-5.

The 2022 Fiji FACT winner will walk away with $17,000, the runner-up $5000, and the losing semifinall­ists with $2000 each.
