Google retires GSuite legacy free service

-

In the coming weeks, Google

will retire the GSuite legacy free edition of its email service. Originally offered (prior to 2013) to business customers to trial the GSuite service, Google is now encouraging migration to an evolved version of the platform called Google Workspace.

Workspace is a hosted workplace collaboration platform providing a range of software tools to help businesses create, communicate and store data securely within the cloud.

The GSuite legacy edition will cease to work from June 27th, 2022.

There will be no impact for everyone using @gmail.com

accounts - as this service will continue to remain free for all users, however, the GSuite legacy service will potentially affect only certain companies with email addresses hosted on their specific domain name (ie. @yourbusinessname.com).

Google Workspace offers businesses a secure & reliable email and workplace collaboration set of tools with access to:

• Google Email (@yourbusinessname.com)

• Google Calendar, organise

meetings & events

• Google Docs, collaborate in real-time with online documents

• Google Sheets, collaborate in real-time with online spreadsheets

• Google Slides, collaborate in real-time with online presentations

• Google Drive, store data securely in the cloud

• Google Chat & Meet, communicate via IM or video meetings from any device

The feature-rich Google Workspace platform has been adopted by hundreds of businesses throughout the Pacific, and is supported by the Pacific’s leading ‘Google Cloud Partner’, “Counterpoint Group”.

Speaking of the transition to Google Workspace, Director of Counterpoint Craig Smith commented “In our seven years of supporting customers on the Google Platform, we’ve seen an enormous advancement to the collaboration tools, making the current range of applications a far superior offering to what was previously offered on the GSuite legacy edition. Now with remote & flexible working being more important than ever, the suite of workplace collaboration tools that Google offers is second to none.”
