Two Head Girls a First for ACS
Adi Cakobau School badged its new prefects, including two head girls, who aim to eliminate all forms of bullying in the school. For the first-time in its 74year history, Adi Cakobau School appointed two head girls to lead the all-girls school this year.
The newly-elected head girls have made a firm decision to end bullying as they take on their leadership roles this year.
Vani Rasiga and Kelera Fong would lead the all-girls school at Sawani, with a mission to make teenage girls know their value in society.
Vani said the past four years at the school had shown her one area to focus on – social media.
“This is the digital era and there is a lot of social media bullying happening. This is common in school,” she said.
“I want to advocate against the use of drugs as well.
“I want to teach girls love and humility while we instil good values in them.”
The Cicia native said boarding life had taught her to manage time well and she plans to instil such habits in students.
“I considered myself as a nobody, but to be given this responsibility, I guess I have a huge role to play,” she said.
“It is important for these young girls to do their best in whatever they do. They should know their worth and make sure they achieve their dreams.”
For Kelera, she said it was important for leaders to know they were to serve and not be served.
“When God designs, he assigns and he will put resources from the four wind directions so he can equip you for your call,” she said.
She said to alleviate the problems as such, there needed to be constant meetings between the school heads and prefects.
The Macuata lass also said it was important for students to be humble and commit everything they do to their provider, God.
