Let’s Lead With Action, Not By Force: Head Boy

- WAISEA NASOKIA Edited by Naisa Koroi

Agood leader will only be able to earn respect by his or her actions and deeds, rather than threats and commands, says Waisake Nacola. Nacola, who was badged head boy of Nasesevia Secondary School recently, said this during the school’s prefects induction ceremony.

“As we have become a leader, we are required to lead by example and not by force,” he said.

“When we think that our classmates are doing something wrong, we should guide them to the right path. If they are stuck, help them,” the Nawaqadamu native said.

Head girl Loami Uluimoala said: “As prefects, we do also assist teachers, therefore, we are required to be responsible and reliable.

“We have an obligation and a very important role to play in the nurturing and development of our peers who will be assuming the same responsibilities in the future,” the Lomawai native said.

Promex Consulting PTE Limited general manager Lawrence Kumar, while addressing the prefects, said: “Remember, to lead is to serve, so a good leader is not someone who throws his/her weight around and has very little to show for it. Good leaders lead from the front. They show the way and help others with how things are to be done.

“There is only one message that I would like to give you all today – dream big, and don’t let anyone discourage you from achieving what you want. You all have special skills, and it is only YOU who can realise it.”

The school caters for 75 students.
