Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum expects the Fijian economy to grow by 11.3 per cent for the next two years.

The A-G highlighted this while speaking to individuals that turned up to the Financial Year 2022-2023 National Budget Consultations at the Sugar Cane Growers Council Hall in Lautoka yesterday.

He said the percentage would also grow beyond that.

“We are expected to now grow by 11.3 per cent since the borders have opened up,” the A-G said.

“Some other people who have made economic forecasts, like ANZ, are saying that we will grow by 20 per cent, let’s hope ANZ is right.”

There is also a need to ensure that the correct decisions that had been made continue.

“In particular in this period of instability we have to make sure that there’s continuity. If you chop and change too much, the world is changing all around you, it will lead to a lot of economic instability,” he added.
