WG Friendship Plaza still in Progress?
A28-storey building that has been under construction since 2016 has suffered a setback as financers withhold funds needed to further the capital development in Suva.
The multi-million WG Friendship Plaza, at McGregor Road, is way behind schedule over its construction, with SunBiz receiving confirmation of suspension of finances for the prestigious project.
Last year, it was reported that Wyndham Hotels and Resorts would be coming soon to Suva, after it sealed a deal with WG International
Real Estate Co. Limited, the developer of WG Friendship Plaza on McGregor Rd, Suva.
Wyndham manages a time-share resort at Denarau Island.
It was earlier reported Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Head of DevelopmentSouth East Asia and Pacific Rim, Matt Holmes and WG International Real Estate director, Ron Ding, penned the private deal in late 2019.
SunBiz sent queries to Wyndham’s local resort.
WG International Real Estate representative, Julian Yuen, earlier confirmed: “Wyndham Hotels and Resorts would occupy levels 19 to 25, with the hotel rooms and suites, while its state of the art conference facilities will be available on levels 26 and 27.
“Wyndham Hotels and Resorts will not only manage the property, but it has also acquired expert interior designers to create an airy, approachable experience for guests.”
Mr Yuen is also the construction manager for the project. Completion for WG Friendship Plaza is still not confirmed, as ongoing work continues.
SunBiz understands that work has also scaled back on account of the escalating cost of building material and freight cost.
