9 Walesi TVs, Wi-Fi Hotspots at Market
Atotal of nine Walesi television screens were officially set-up at the Lautoka Municipal Market on Saturday.
The digital TV sets were launched by the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the free Wi-Fi hotspot at the market.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the free Wi-Fi hotspot would benefit the market vendors so they could connect to their suppliers and also to the consumers who would buy items from them.
He said the free Wi-Fi which was available throughout the market areas could also be used by those visiting the market.
Hotspot for gathering
“The reason why we’re targeting markets is because markets are really a hotspot where people get together, people interact with each other,” said the A-G.
“As part of the Walesi initiative also because a lot of vendors spend all day in the markets, people also come and shop in the market, we also want the environment to be conducive for them so we’ve set up television sets throughout the market.
“The market vendors can sit and watch programs, if for example there’s a rugby game going on or some important event of significance, the market vendors can enjoy
it and the people in the market can also enjoy it because the market is obviously an environment where a lot of trade and commerce takes
place and we want to ensure that people have a good environment to work and shop in.”
