Old politicians are rusty, we need new politicians, says All People’s Party leader, Pastor Tuiloma Tawaivuna. Mr Tawaivuna encouraged Fijians to vote for new politicians in the 2022 General Election to bring in change that has never happened before.

“We don’t believe in old politicians anymore, old politicians bring old mindsets,” he said.

“We want new politicians with new mindsets, creative mindsets that will bring change, that will bring stability, that will bring success, that will bring transformation to the nation.”

Land issue

Pastor Tawaivuna highlighted that the party would be basing their argument on the issue of land on the Bible verse, Leviticus 25:23.

“God told the Israelites, do not sell your land permanently or the land doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to me for I have given you permission to use the land.” Pastor Tawaivuna said: “Based on that truth we strongly advocate that all freehold land is to be reverted to the native owners.

“We find that the nation itself is disobeying God by selling land permanently which we have disobeyed God according to his word.” He said when the party goes into Government, they would conduct a thorough investigation as to how native lands became freehold. Mr Tawaivuna added that when the party candidates went around visiting villages, the landowners claimed that there were no proper procedures followed to convert native land to freehold.

“As we know that TLTB used to bring a form for the mataqali to sign, in most cases it was not for them and they were surprised to know,” he added.

“We are not going to investigate those who consented, that’s okay because it was their consent for the land to be reverted for that purpose, but we will only investigate detail by detail.”

He also said that he was not intimidated by the bigger parties like the People’s Alliance Party and the FijiFirst Party.
