Top sevens teams including Police, Wardens, Westfield Babas and Waimanu have confirmed their participation in next weekend’s 12th Kombat Uluinakau 7s tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park says tournament director Malakai Yamaivava.

Yamaivava made the confirmation while receiving over $1000 donation from Prataps Civil and Asphalt Quarries Limited managing director Suresh Pratap.

The trophies are for the Youth (U21), women and main category.

While handing over the donation Pratap said: “I believe in supporting the development of grassroots rugby in Fiji and I am passionate about it.”

“We are too happy to donate as you know we have a big interest in rugby especially when my children also play rugby.”

Pratap’s company has been committed to the sport the past five years.

“We will continue to do what we like doing. We have big interest in this type of partnership since Indo-Fijians are more into football only; we want to create an atmosphere in rugby also and that is Pratap’s thought. There is an opportunity in rugby too.” He thanked the organisers for giving them the opportunity to be in partnership for the programme, to cement their collaboration in the sport of rugby.

Receiving the trophies tournament Yamaivava said the silverware will boost rivalry among the teams.

“We thank them for coming on board to support grass root rugby, this is the fifth years that have been with us,” he said. Registration is still opens for all categories. Teams intending to register can call 9386 928/ 7231 122. Admission: Day 1- Adult $5 Children $2 and Day 2 - Adult $7 Child $2.
