Techno Private Fiji Limited, a subsidiary for Hari Punja and Sons Limited (HPS) HPS Group has donated rugby training equipment to Ratu Navula College in Nadi.

The company’s executive chairman Ajay Punja said the equipment, though simple was designed to increase accuracy in passing the rugby ball.

The training equipment was possible through a recent expo partnership with leading Italian water technology brand DAB at Sofitel Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.

Also part of the donation apart from the rugby balls was a target – the target is similar to a darts board, where players stand some distance away and pass the ball to hit the target on the middle.

Punja said Ratu Navula College has been a prominent name in schools’ rugby and since Techno is located close by, they decided to donate the equipment to them.

Over the years RNC has produced a number of rugby players who are now playing internationally.

The likes of Olympic Games gold medallists Josua Tuisova and Aminiasi Tuimaba.

“I know a lot of RNC students have gone to represent the country with some now playing overseas,” Punjas said.

RNC assistant principal Vani Lewaravu said the donation would go a long way in improving the passing skills and accuracy of their present and future rugby teams.
