Early Christmas for Savasi Island Resort
After so many years, the staff of Savasi Island Resort in Savusavu celebrated Christmas early this month. Savasi Island Resort reservations manager Fiona Savenkov said their Christmas celebration this year held a particularly special meaning to all staff, as they had not been able to celebrate together in this way over the last couple of years.
“It made us all realise we cannot take for granted the joy and peace we receive from sharing special moments together and celebrating together with family and friends, so the overwhelming feeling this year was gratitude,” Ms Savenkov said.
“To us, Christmas is a time to reflect on the blessings of the past year, look with hope and faith to the future, show our sincere gratitude to each person who contributes to the success of the business and take a moment out of our busy days to give thanks to God and relax in each other’s company.”
She said this year has been very exhausting, but satisfying.
“It has been strange going from zero to one hundred in terms of workload and productivity, however we have been very grateful and
relieved for the opportunity to recover from the biggest shock and disruption the country and especially the tourism industry has ever experienced,” she added.
“It has been a very big learning curve for everyone, and we have realised that with teamwork, patience and resilience you can survive even the greatest challenges.”
She said this year has taught them that there was always hope, always light at the end of the tunnel and that even the darkest nights do not last forever, the sun would always rise again.
Their plan for 2023 remains much the same and that is to continue sharing the best of Fiji and genuine Fijian hospitality with all who come through their doors.
“We never stop our quest for continuous improvement and going over and above for our guests,” she said.
“The heart of Savasi is the people who live, work, and breathe the Bula spirit, and we plan to keep recognising and rewarding their efforts.
2023 is shaping up to be a more “normal” year which is very welcome, but at the same time we have learnt that things can change in an instant, and we all need to keep working hard to make hay while the sun shines.”
