Children at the colonial War Memorial (CWM) hospital started the new year with some packs of love from the wellknown bakery company, The Hot Bread Kitchen.

On Sunday 1 of January, 2023 the much-loved bakery company donated sixty packs of treats and pastries to the CWM hospital children’s ward.

The company had always pride itself on supporting initiatives that give back to the communities, and this was also the first time The Hot Bread Kitchen have ventured onto such donation on a year’s day

The Hot Bread Kitchen general manager business development, Upashna Ben said they couldn’t have expressed their genuineness towards the children in any other way than this.

“We wanted to assist during Christmas to these young children who are admitted at the CWM hospital, the children’s ward,” Ms Ben said.

“We usually support different communities whenever we can put in our efforts.”

“So, this was the time like we have festive season and we really wanted to make the children who are currently admitted, who are away from their homes a bit happy.”

The donations made were part of a church committee that requested the company to assist them in supplying the goodies.

Ms Ben said this committee usually spend their Christmas at CWM with the children, supplying books and bags to the older ones and soft toys for the younger ones.

“During Christmas we could not actually assist them because they’re requesting very late,” Ms Ben said.

“So it came on 24th of December and we’re closed on Christmas day so we couldn’t make it on that day, so we said that maybe it’s a good timing to have these goodies out to the children during New Year’s holiday.”
