he Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviatio­n, Lynda Tabuya, and Assistant Minister, Sashi Kiran received a warm welcome from staff in Suva during their office visitation.

The two visionary leaders said taking care of the staff’s welfare and serving the people of Fiji will be their priority, regardless of their race, colour or religion.

While visiting the Golden Age Home in Suva, Minister Tabuya commended the work carried out by the staff.

This week, Minister Tabuya and Assistant Minister Kiran together with Permanent Secretary Ashwin Raj also visited the Poverty Monitoring Unit, Corporate Unit, Child Services Unit, Department of Women Headquarte­rs, Social Welfare Office Headquarte­rs, and Fiji Juvenile Rehabilita­tion and Developmen­t Centre in Suva.

Minister Tabuya told her staff that there are a lot of vacancies that need to be filled in the Ministry, which will need to be discussed and endorsed by the Cabinet and the Prime Minister.

“We will look into all acting positions within the Ministry and will attend to these as soon as possible. The Ministry staff have been doing the work and these new government initiative­s will ensure efficiency in terms of service delivery for the people of Fiji,” she said.

Minister Kiran thanked the staff of the Ministry for playing an instrument­al role in achieving the Ministry’s goals and serving the vulnerable in society.

“We need you and your co-workers as pillars of support, especially in service delivery and during difficult times. Having a strong network and a supportive family also helps enhance your work and efficient service delivery. We also thank your individual families for their continuous support throughout the year and we wish all of you a Happy New Year in advance.”
