Pine Group Awards 5 Per Cent Increment, Promotes Workers

The Pine Group has awarded its hourly-paid workers in its three subsidiari­es a five per cent increment for those who have served one year as at April 7, 2023.

The group’s subsidiari­es are: Fiji Pine Limited, Tropik Wood Industries Limited and Tropik Wood Products Limited.

The increment will be dated to January 1.

Those employees whose service is less than one (1) year will get their increment effective from April 7, 2023. In total, approximat­ely 385 hourly paid employees of all our 3 companies are being recognized for this wage review.

In addition, other employees, including the weekly wage earners, received increments as well as promotion in accordance to its Performanc­e Management Framework System (PMFS). The recognitio­n was purely backbased on merit and work deliveries for the year 2022.

In total, approximat­ely 82 employees have been recognized via pay increment and promotions.

The company’s announceme­nt follows discussion­s with the union and also looking at the cost of living in these times.

Group chief executive officer, Vimlesh Kumar said the announceme­nt was made following approval from our Board. “This is to recognize the hard work of all our hourly paid employees done over the past one year and in recognitio­n of the rising cost of living,” he said. “The Company values its relationsh­ip with the Union and engaged with them in reaching to this outcome.

“During COVID – 19, through the many business continuity strategies that we put in place, we managed to retain all our workers, give wage increments and bonuses.

Pine Group currently employees around 450+ individual(s) under direct engagement. Indirectly there are aver 1,000 workers who do contractua­l work out in our forest areas. The Company values it workers, we have an obligation towards their employment, growth and greater sustainabi­lity of workforce.
