Eid-ul-Fitr is a unique festival. Its significance is purely spiritual.
On this auspicious and joyous occasion of Eid, it is my immense pleasure in offering Eid Mubarak to all of you, I offer my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of our country and abroad.
Eid ul Fitr is the most widely celebrated festival in Islam and it falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of Islamic calendar.
It marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Fasting is a means of learning self –control, purifying our behavior, giving charity and doing virtuous deeds. The other important objective of fasting is of experiencing hunger and developing compassion for the less fortunate and learns to be thankful and appreciative for all God’s bounties.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a unique festival. Its significance is purely spiritual.
It is the day when we Muslims thank God for having given us the will and the strength to observe fast and obey His commandment during the holy month of Ramadan. The day of Eid-ul-Fitr is when Allah is awarding us for our achievements. The festival of Eid ul Fitr highlights the spirit of sacrifice and the joy of sharing.
The joy which we feel on Eid is the spiritual joy of obeying God’s command of discipline and collective worship. Eid is a day of thanksgiving and remembrance.
We offer gratitude to Almighty God for helping us to fulfill our spiritual obligations.
Muslims pray to Him and Glorify His name to demonstrate their remembrance of His favors.
After the Eid prayers people visit each other, socializing with extended family, friends and community. Along with that course, they remember the needy by extending a hand of help, the grieved by showing them sympathy and cheerful visits and utterances of good wishes to the sick and offering prayers for the deceased.
When the believers assemble in the congregation of the Day, they all whole heartedly pray for forgiveness and strength in faith. And Allah has assured those approach Him with sincerity of His mercy and forgiveness.
The spirit of this highly devotional assembly teaches us that if we forgive, we will be forgiven.
Islam simply means ‘peace, purity, acceptance and commitment. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. Islam is a way of life, a combination of spiritual, moral and material values of faith and worship, a code of conduct and a complete system of guidance. So, when we celebrate the Eid, we actually celebrating the day of peace.
All the faithful believers reap the fruits of their good deeds on this day, as Almighty grant His mercy and blessings abundantly.
