New winner a possibilit­y in the Nadi business house bowls final

The Rajnesh Prasad skippered Team IEW remains on track to be crowned the new winner of the 2023 Consumer Supermarke­t Business house bowls championsh­ip.

This is after the side defeated Airport Boys 1910 in their cup semi-final clash at the Nadi Sports and Social Club on Wednesday.

IEW is laced with national reps Kaushal Pillay, upcoming star Joshua Jaduram and former Fiji and Nadi football star Maika Kasami while Airport Boys have Dave Good, Hafizul Rehman, Ashwin Kumar, and Jiten Kumar.

Prasad said his team has been playing well and were looking forward to the final.

“We have been positive from day one, we need to remain positive for the outcome,” Prasad said. In the other semi-final Shorab Khan’s Grog Boys lost 18-6 to Pinch Bar. Pinch Bar is laced with the services evergreen Raymond Singh, golfer Roneel Prakash, Rajneel Chand and Chapke Singh. Bowls director Sanjeet Sen said real competitio­n will unfold in the final with national reps in action.

“The semi-final result was impressive but it can be anyone’s game come the final,” he said.

“Some players are using this championsh­ip as their preparatio­n for the Sunny West Bowls Carnival. Upon its completion we are looking at hosting another round of business houses.”

In other results: Plate semi-final: Portion Pak 20 – 8 Pacific Centre, Consumer 15– 14 NSSC, Bowls semi-final: MHLP 15 –12 Fiji Airways I, Fiji Airways II 4– 32 Island Golfers, Shield final: Wild Tigers 23-9 Wananavu Energy.

Plate final: Portion Pak - Consumer Supermarke­t, seventh place Pacific Center - NSSC
