Strategic plan produces seed of change
ACommunity Strategic Development Plan workshop will sow the seed for change for members of a tribe ( yavusa) in Nadi.
This sentiment was raised by Laisiasa Wainikesa, while opening the Yavusa Natobai Strategic Development Plan workshop yesterday to support members of Yavusa Natobai, in Nagado, Nadi. Mr Wainikesa said training contributed to the resilience and growth of communities whether it was an urban or rural community.
The strategic plan is a detailed blueprint leading to a “vision” of what your community wants to be.
“It provides direction on how to get there. As members of your community and custodians of resources, you will must make the most of every opportunity you get because it’s you who will now shape the minds of others,” Mr Wainikesa said.
“I think we can all agree, there’s nothing like having face-to-face interaction and in the iTaukei context, the concept of Talanoa is a key tool.”
The workshop is organised by the iTaukei Trust Fund Board as part of its “Resource Owners Entrepreneurship Framework,” and under “Solesolevaki Framework” which was recently announced at the Inaugural Resource Owners Summit that took place in April 2023.
The workshop is a follow up
from the resource owners entrepreneurship session that took place in Lauwaki Village in 2022. Close to 40 members representing youths, women groups, mataqali leaders, church groups, men’s groups and members of the Yavusa Natobai Trust are participating in the three-day workshop. The initiative will upskill representatives
and provide them relevant resources and toolkits to support their efforts to map out their Strategic Development Plan, to aptly chart their aspirations for sustainable growth and development into the future.
