Duo shine in Sunny West Bowls

It was an outstandin­g performanc­e from Maelene Reynolds and Dan Vinod in winning all their games of the 14th Sunny West Bowls Championsh­ip at the Nadi Sports and Social Club.

The duo secured a perfect six points in their Pool D matches. Alan Weir and Elizabeth Moceiwai are with four points, while Christine Vella and Bill Taylor earned two points.

Club secretary Shamal Kumar said the weather on the first day was glorious and the green running smoothly. This provided the perfect conditions for the participan­ts to showcase their bowling skills. “The organisers hope for continued good weather throughout the tournament to ensure that all matches proceed as scheduled,” he said.

“The Sunny West Bowling Carnival kicked off with an exciting pairs event, which saw participan­ts compete in three thrilling games on day one. “The bowlers showcased their skills with determinat­ion, setting the stage for an action-packed tournament.” In Pool A, Olaf Allen emerged as the standout performer, securing a perfect record by winning all of his games to accumulate six points.

Pool B witnessed an impressive display by national rep Rajnesh Prasad and Charlotte Barnett, who remained unbeaten throughout day one, amassing six points.

Dev Anand, and Abhinesh Dass, showcased their skills, earning four points collective­ly. Jimmo Hagan and Colin Hall followed with three points each, proving their mettle on the green in Pool C

Henny Smith and Ann Faulkner displayed promise, securing two points, while Graham Hines aims to make his mark in the following games.

Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to event sponsors of Sun Insurance, Fiji Gas, Capricorn Hotels Nadi, Portion Pak, Wild Tigers Fastfood & Takeaways, Fiji Water, Tappoo and Coca-Cola Europacifi­c Partners.
