Chinese Embassy applauds coalition govt
He said the mutual understanding between China and the Coalition Government had deepened.
The Chinese Embassy in Fiji has applauded the coalition Government for its decision to abide by the oneChina principle.
This is by correcting the name of Taiwan’s institution in Fiji to Taipei Trade Office and revoking its so-called diplomatic privileges.
Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian said this laid a solid foundation and opened the gate for the all-round practical cooperation between China and Fiji. “On the basis of the one-China principle, China is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with Fiji in all aspects, and elevate bilateral relations to a higher level, so as to benefit more people in Fiji. Taiwan question is at the core of China’s core interest,” Mr Zhou said.
“It is hoped that friends from the Fijian media, scholars and colleagues from the Fijian Government can continue to abide by the one-China principle, a broad consensus in international relations, respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and maintain the political foundation and public support for our bilateral relations.” He said the mutual understanding between China and the Coalition Government had deepened.
“I have met all the Cabinet ministers, gone onto the fields to learn the situation at the grassroots level and had a better understanding of the development status and urgent needs of Fiji,”
Mr Zhou said.
“China has invited many Cabinet ministers and Parliament members to visit China. Having witnessed China’s achievements with their own eyes, they have cleared all kinds of misunderstandings and prejudices against China.
“They have developed good relations with Chinese relevant authorities and local governments, found many new inspirations and new ideas for the cooperation, and strengthened their confidence in the friendly cooperation between China and Fiji.”
