FMF Fiji acknowledges sportsmen, women
FMF Fiji celebrated achievements from its sporting partners yesterday. This included the ANZ Marama Cup champions Suva women’s rugby team, bodybuilder Jordan Pillay and Tuwai Boxing promoter Alan Kumar. FMF group marketing officer Maria Kumar said this was to acknowledge their participation in the various competitions they participated in.
“The work that the ladies have done on the field is really inspiring so this event is to congratulate them and I thank the club managers for the hard work behind the scene,” she said.
Maria also commended Tuwai Investment and Kumar in his efforts to make FMF Boxing Series in Suva a success.
“We are continuing our sponsorship with him (Tuwai). Tuwai is one of the ambassadors for us in boxing, Jordan has also been appointed as an FMF ambassador,” Maria added.
Kumar said: “Boxing in Fiji was a minor sport compared to other sports and I thank FMF for uplifting boxing as a minor sport.
“The same amount that FMF sponsored for the series went to the boxers the same night they performed so it’s a blessing from FMF to the family of the boxers,” he added.
The next boxing series will be held on August 19 at Lawaqa Park and Nadi in November
Suva womens’ team said they were blessed to have won the Marama Championship as there was a lot of hard work behind it from the management, coaches and the players.
“We thank FMF for sponsoring throughout this season and we hope bringing back this Marama Cup will make you proud and also to continue your sponsorship with us in future,” said Suva captain Akosita Ravato.
Maria congratulated Pillay for his recent success at the International Muscle Contest in Los Angeles and qualifying for the US nationals.
Pillay expressed his gratitude towards the FMF family for sponsoring his trip to US to representing
Fiji in bodybuilding.
He said: “I’m humbled and honored with this opportunity so thank you so much FMF,” he said.
“My family is my motivation as they push me to do well in life and do the best in whatever I do. I hope to create a path for the upcoming generation of bodybuilders to push their limits and make it in the international stage.”
Pillay received a sum of $20,000 from FMF for the LA championships to be held on July 22.
