150 vehicles anticipated for today’s car show
Approximately 150 vehicles are anticipated to participate in the Riding Dirty Fiji Car Club car show at the HFC Bank Stadium Car Park in Suva. Formed in 2021 with six members, Riding Dirty Fiji which is registered as a non-profit organisation, will make its return with their second major Autofest car show after a year.
Club founder Navneet Singh confirmed the cars will start arriving at the gates from 9am while the program for the show will begin at 1pm.
The club last held their car show last year and Mr Singh said today is their second major car show.
“The entries opened on the 1st of December 2023 and by the 29th, we were fully booked with more than 150 cars.
“We hosted the first Car Show in May 2022 at Namaka Public with 150 vehicles and over 1000 patrons. “The number of participants have increased because a lot of car owners reached out to us saying they always want to be part of the noble cause.”
“This show will have 140 categories because this time we not only have male and youths taking part but some female car lovers are also entering the show which is really positive to witness,” he said.
The Club lives by the faith that car shows for charity is all about ‘Giving back to the communities.’
“All funds raised from that show went towards two medical treatments and now that we are back with the second show, again all the funds will go for charity.
“We are partnering with Being Helping Hand Fiji so whatever funds we raise in this show; certain amount will go towards them.
“The remaining will go to those less fortunate who are unwell within their community as we are committed to making a positive impact. “We want to tell the public that we don’t keep any money because we see this as a way to showcase our love towards our communities,” he said.
With over 30 members in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, he added the winners will be rewarded with plaques.
“In the previous car shows we gave away trophies but we wanted to do something different this time.”
“We will also launch our first ever magazine in the show which will have the details of each participating car and the inspirational story of their owners,” he said.
The car show program will conclude at 11pm today.
