Milinia, Tove selection boosts Nadroga

- MERELEKI NAI NADI

The naming of Adita Milinia and Repeka Tove in the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua line-up to face Rebels in today’s Super W clash in Melbourne, Australia, has boosted the Nadroga women’s rugby side.

The Nadroga women’s team hosts Suva today in their ANZ Marama Championship clash at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Nadroga women’s coach Salamisa Batimala said their players have been motivated to see their teammates reach such heights by playing for the Drua.

He said this is very much-needed as they expect a tough game.

“They (Milinia and Tove) will be playing for the Drua. Tove has been the captain of the Nadroga side. “Also, one of the girls, Unaisi Lalabalavu also got a scholarship in Japan and departed last month. “She also played once for the Drua and flew out of the country,” he said.

“Our preparations have been going on well.

“There are few things that we need to change and improve on from our last game and had worked on it.”

Batimala said Suva is not an easy team to play against.

“They are the defending champions. This year they have been win

ning all their games.”

He said despite having a few injured players, it has not deterred their preparation this week.

“We have won two games, one against Navosa and last week we

beat Tailevu. We will try to win this game (against Suva).” Batimala encouraged his province to support women’s rugby. “I would like to invite them to please come and support our women’s rugby team. Let us show them that nothing can limit our talents and ability on the rugby field,” he added.
