Maroons eye third Skipper win

Lautoka rugby team has put behind their bonus point win against Vinod Patel Ba. Instead, the Maroons are focused in today’s encounter against visitors Yasawa at Churchill Park.

The Maroons are looking for their third win in the Skipper Cup competition.

After the 27-15 win against Ba, they are hoping to build on from there. Lautoka head coach Peniona Ranitu said having the Fijian Drua development players on his side was a boost to their campaign.

The Maroons had rookie Drua utility back Sikeli Rabitu at No.15, Drua development rep Freddy Ralulu and former Drua lock Raikabula Momoedonu.

“We got a lot of areas to improve on. “We were a bit slow in our reaction, so we got to iron that out and a few of basic errors in our set-pieces, lineouts, scrums and kick-off,” Ranitu added. The Maroons had two players sinbinned in the last 15 minutes of the match and the wily coach said that was a crucial area they worked on throughout the week.

“We had two kick-offs, the first one Ba scored a try, so we worked on it too.”
