Peter Lakai: Can’t Wait for Drua
The challenge has been laid down when Hurricanes star flanker Peter Lakai said he cannot wait any longer to face the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in tomorrow night’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash at the HFC Bank stadium.
Lakai whose dad is from Ghana and a Tongan mother will be playing for the first time on Fijian soil.
“Drua is a tough team and we come with the expectation of one tough battle,” Lakai said.
“This is my third season with the team but second as a full-time player. We’ve won our last eight games but we know that we still got a long way to go. We’re only halfway through the season so we’re going to keep building towards the playoffs.”
Winger Kini Naholo said they’re really excited and looking forward to playing the Drua.
“It’s going to be a good game. Hopefully, people will turn up and be excited.
“It has always been a good team with a proven programme. We do talk about it at home, and they (Drua) are a different team when they’re playing at home. So it’s going to be hard to play here but it’s going to be a good game for us as well.” Head coach Clark Laidlaw said he is excited to be here.
“I’m excited to play the Drua, it’s a big challenge this week but realistically we know it’s going to be a tough game.”
“We did learn some lessons and on how we prepare and what the game is going to feel like. We know there’s going to be a big crowd over in Suva and we’re excited to be here and hopefully play well on Friday (tomorrow).”
The match kicks-off at 7.05pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.
