Medicinal supply for health facilities continues

The Ministry for Health and Medical Services continues to supply the much-needed immediate medical supplies and equipment to health facilities across the country.
Its minister, Dr Atonio Lalabalavu, said following their nationwide tour, many of the problems often highlighted by health professionals on the ground, were poor medicine supplies.
Dr Lalabalavu said some of the health centres in rural and remote areas and nursing stations had limited medical supplies that needed the ministry’s attention.
“Part of what the ministry is doing in terms of continuous visitation for the headquarters and divisional teams is just going around and looking at the facilities and infrastructure,” Dr Lalabalavu said. “There is continuous supply of medicinal items for various health facilities, sub-divisional hospitals, and health centres right down to the nursing station. “That is an ongoing work that is budgeted. Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services distribution team has supplied the very much needed syringes and other items that were before short in stock.”
In recent weeks, teams from the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services have been supplying medical supplies to five health facilities in the Ra Sub-Division.
