Meth, marijuana found in seven arrests, raids
The Fiji Police Force has arrested a man in Lami yesterday morning following a joint raid conducted with the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU).
During the joint raid white substances believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, and dried leaves were found by the Police. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said the discoveries were made in the suspect’s vehicle and home in Lami.
The suspect remains in custody at the Lami Police Station.
In other arrests made throughout the week, a 44-year-old man was arrested in Cobue, Bua after he was allegedly found with white substance believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
In Labasa town, a 66-year-old man was allegedly found with a clear bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
ACP Driu said in Nausori, a 29-year-old man was arrested following the seizure of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine. In Lautoka, an arrest made at the Lautoka Bus stand resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man following the discovery of plastic sachets containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana. In another report received from the Lautoka market area, a 22-yearold man was allegedly found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Another arrest made in the Lautoka area involved a 37-year-old man after he was allegedly found with white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, a weighing machine and smoking apparatus.
ACP Driu said arrests are being made on a daily basis with those charged produced in a court of law. He adds community engagement continues to yield results with the arrests and seizures made.
