Remote working

A shift in design culture

-

A curated experience blending residential comfort and requisite office necessities is the new signature of 'workations.' Mydesk is a five- minute cruise from Nadi International Airport and offers premium corporate facilities that ease the dilemma of working travellers and digital nomads. “This place is specifically designed for people who work and travel,” said founder Dipti Sharma.

“Travellers and SMES often struggle to find an established space to work remotely or simply print documents. Here at Mydesk, anyone can design their schedule and have a productive work experience while visiting friends and family or away from base.”

Dipti’s personal experiences of working and travelling abroad identified a changing trend in corporate workflows, and Mydesk is a post-pandemic creation breaking new ground in Fiji.

Creativity, collaboration, and clarity are visually communicated in Mydesk’s design principles; an open plan of clean lines, emotive décor and branded palette alongside resourceful tools and mobility. These tasteful elements offer a conducive environment to meet clients, join a video conference in privacy or organise paperwork in peace. Alongside a kitchenette and surrounding retailers, Mydesk is a low-distraction environment where you can also prepare meals or make a hot drink. Downstairs, the services are immersive and varied: coffee, spa and transit lounge, resort wear and accessories, a hair salon and nail centre.

As a new generation of Fijians support each other and explore new opportunities, both established and upcoming entrepreneurs use Mydesk as a supportive networking platform to inform and inspire.

Mydesk’s International Women’s Day celebration in May was an open gender event by presenters sharing respective journeys on identity, corporate sustainability and social responsibility, peer networking, gender equity and social inclusion, philanthropy, and purpose.

“There are quiet achievers making resounding changes in the lives of other people. As we think of ways to carve our own lives and collective world as a country and people, we need to hear these stories,” Dipti shared.

“And of course, with these social changes are physical changes to how we design our spaces, uphold our ambience, and encourage productivity. Culture and design must be intentional and immersive.”

Mydesk is the first and only co-working hub in Fiji's Western Division
