Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Sristi Sweta Nadan, I am 22 years old and the youngest of three siblings. I hail from the Sugar City, Lautoka. I completed my high school education at Natabua High after which I joined Fiji Link. Apart from badminton I also play tennis, I love photography and swimming. I’m also interested in exploring new places and making new friends.

What has your Fiji Link journey been like?

I joined Fiji link in June 2020 as a Junior Flight Attendant and got promoted to Senior Cabin Crew in December 2020. I really love the bond that we all share as a relatively small team.

What’s it like balancing family, work and badminton life?

It can be challenging but I am blessed with the fact that my leaders at work and my family are very supportive of my sporting career. I am able to request for leave for my tournaments. I also ensure that I keep up with my trainings on my days off and at times after work.

Tell us more about your badminton journey?

I used to play tennis in primary school so when I joined Natabua High in 2014 I naturally gravitated towards badminton. I joined the school team and in 2015 I started playing in the Junior National Team. In 2017, I represented Fiji in Junior Nationals held in New Caledonia. In 2018, I started playing in the senior squad of the Fiji team. I was also the team captain of my school team. In 2019, I represented Fiji at the Oceania Championship held in Australia. In 2020 I became the Development Officer for Fiji Badminton and have been for outreach in several places (Tukavesi, Navosa, Ba, Naisoso and Koroipita) with the Fiji Sports Commission members to promote badminton.

What are your five travel essentials?

My five travel essentials would include my passport, phone/camera, my sporting gear, wallet, and my bible

Tell us your packing tips and travel hacks

I make a list prior to packing to ensure that I don’t miss anything. I mostly pack clothes that are crease free. I find that it is easier to look for your stuff if you have a system in place and pack your things according to that.

What’s been your favourite holiday experience to date?

Travelling is another one of my favourite hobbies and travelling within Fiji is still a favourite. One of my best holiday experiences was travelling with my three sisters, just the three of us. We started our day with an early breakfast after which we went for Zip Lining at Sabeto Sleeping Giant. After lunch we took a dip in the waterfall before heading to the Shangri – La Resort in Sigatoka.

Do you have a favourite Fiji Link destination?

Yes, its Rotuma. First and foremost the welcome that the people of Rotuma give (“mamasa”) is so personal and touching that you will feel you are with your loved ones. Apart from this, Rotuma is an unspoiled, pristine and idyllic tropical island full of sandy beaches and the tastiest coconut water you’ve ever tasted. The island has some homestays on offer and Fiji Link flies there once a week, every Friday at the moment.
