STAFF and students of Ba Sanatan College in Ba last month dedicated a few hours a week to athletics. The school started their inter-house competition on Monday 12th February, 2018 through to Friday 16th February. The first 4 days of competition saw students take part in field events from 3pm until 4pm. On Friday which was the last day of competition the students took to the track events. School Principal Mrs Tokasa Wilson said she was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the students as they came in their house colours: Lion – Yellow, Eagle – Red, Dolphin – Blue, Dragon – Green. Chief Guest at the event was Future Farms (Rooster) General Manager Mr Stanley Raniga. Mr Raniga, an old student of the school was impressed with the event and reiterated that he would continue to support the school as it molded him to be what he is today. Lion House athletes roared loudest and came out the champions of the week long inter-house. By JONE LUVENITOGA A visiting Indian performing arts team from Gujarat recently gave Fiji audiences in Suva, Lautoka and Ba a view of the unique styles of dancing drawn from 31 different tribes. And Fiji had a lot to offer through its multiracial blend, representative of the Aavishkar Institute of Performing Arts consortium, Kalpesh Dalal told the audiences. He warned indigenous people to be vigilant to preserve their culture in the world of today. He said the protection of culture in India is equal to the country’s reputation as a leading nation in the world of technology, The Aavishkar Insitute is the 55th team to tour Fiji as part of the Pasifika Namaste Festival. Dayal said people must first love and appreciate their heritage, then their children will appreciate its uniqueness and adopt it freely.
