Taxi earnings

I THOUGHT new taxi permits were issued to supplement the incomes of those households earning less than $20,000 per annum.

So what is the big fuss about them losing their permits if their income levels go above the threshold.

At the time of applying for the permits their combined earnings from other sources of income may have been below $20,000 and with the taxi business it may have increased.

I believe the whole idea behind this scheme was to improve their livelihoods.

A leg up so to speak. Let us not forget that they are also paying licence fees like other taxi operators.

And why should they be denied the right to become a member of a taxi association.

Who is the regulatory authority in this matter, LTA or FTA?
