Win for Pearls

-

YOUR editorial titled “Netball’s dismal campaign’” (FT 18/09) was to the point.

Not too many fancy words but facts, facts and facts.

However, I’m glad that our girls picked up their first win after thumping Singapore (71-56).

Although we were not impressive, I guess a good outing and exposure for the young team and come 2023, I hope that we will not come up with excuses.

I miss former coach Julie Hoornweg who guided Fiji to sixth finish in 1999.

The likes of Ivonne Willering, Megan Simpson and Una Rokoura did not do too bad but current coach Vicki Wilson has a lot to answer in terms of the level of preparation, the standard of our fitness and the commitment and dedication of the players.

Our Pearls face Sri Lanka and a win will be to some extent a consolation for the Pearls.
