DESPITE Winston Hill losing out in his category on Wednesday, there is still hope for Boxing Fiji to bring home medals from the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

Fiji Boxing coach Ro Alivate Logavatu said two boxers from Team Fiji at the games were through to the finals today and would be competing in the gold medal playoffs at Don Bosco College on the island of Savai’i.

Logavatu said Jone Koroilagilagi Davule and Zoheb Ali won their fights on unanimous decision.

Davule won in the 64kg light welter against Tevi Steven of Kiribati while Ali who fought in the 52kg flyweight won his fight against Teari Rua of Tahiti.

However Logavatu said the third Fijian boxer Elia Rokobuli lost on split points decision to Pemberton Lele of the Solomon Islands and would receive a bronze medal today.

Logavatu said he was satisfied with the achievements and the performance of the boxers to date.

“Very good as you know those two are through to the finals will either get gold and silver,” Logavatu said.

“They both won by unanimous decision,” he said.
