FIJI sailing head coach Emanuel Jamardo is impressed with the Fijian team’s performance at the Pacific Games sailing competition as it heads into the final rounds at Mulifanua in Samoa.

Fiji’s Hobie sailors Shayne Brodie and Nelle Leenders are currently in third position with 34 in their score at the end of day four and looking confident to take out a bronze medal.

Amanu Simpson has scored 24 points at the end of his round yesterday and is followed by Viliame Raului on 47 points in the Laser standard Men’s one person dinghy. They are both currently in third place in the teams category.

“I am proud of the performance of the sailors in this Pacific Games we have performed really well and I am confident in saying that we will be able to get medals for tomorrow (today).

“We have had very good sails today, even though the boys had a bit of problems with their boat today it didn’t affect our performance,” said Jamardo.

“Tomorrow we are looking confident to get a medal but in sailing you will know the final result when you finish but we are positive because we have very good points and I want all our sailors to get the medal,” he added.

The final rounds will be held today which will determine the placings for the sailors competing at the Pacific Games.
