Anyone for a quick bite of fresh seafood?

FOR a quick and easy bite drop by at Susana Masivou's stall at the Suva Municipal Market seafood corner.

The 37-year-old native from Namata in Tailevu will tease your tastebuds with the variety of mouthwater­ing seafood delicacies she sells at a cheap and affordable price.

Married with four kids Ms Masivou says that she sells ready-made seafood salads like nama salad, octopus (kuita) and dairo salad packed in containers to satisfy your cravings.

She also sells cooked cassava, octopus, nama and lumi with prices depending on the size.

Ms Masivou said she had been selling at the market for the past 16 years and the seafood were from clients in Qelekuro and Namena in Tailevu.

"A bucket of octopus is $100 to $150 depending on the size and $150 for a bag of nama and lumi while the cooked cassava and dalo are from home," she said.

She says she sells three days a week from Thursday to Saturday with a program that begins at 7am to 5pm.

"Thursdays and Fridays are the two days clients from local restaurant­s buy seafood from me while on Saturday it's a day dedicated to customers only."

Ms Masivou said she made good money from selling seafood and salads and could earn $200 to $250 a day.

Method

Heat a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Place the raw octopus in the boiling water, return the water to a boil, and boil for 30 min. “Then remove the octopus from the pot and place to cool on a sheet pan. Discard the cooking water.

Cut the octopus into large pieces, discard anything that doesn't look like meat.

Chop your spring onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and dhania.

Mix it in a big bowl with your nama, dairo.

Add salt and lemon to give you the taste you're looking for. You can also use miti if you want to.
