Fijians to face Samoa

THE Fiji Pearls’ two wins in the play-offs round at the Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England will see them face Pacific Islands rival Samoa for the 13th position.

The Fiji Pearls’ first win in the playoffs was against Singapore and their second was against Sri Lanka. The wins moved Fiji behind Samoa in Group E.

The Netball World Cup website reported the top two teams from Group E will playoff for the 13th and 14th places.

England and NZ have confirmed their spots in the semifinal.

The Fiji Pearls’ first win was against Singapore and their second was against Sri Lanka.

The win placed Fiji in Group E behind neoghbours Samoa.

Netball World Cup reported the top two teams from group E will play-off for the 13th and 14th places and the bottom two teams will play off for 15th and 16th places.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals line-up for the NWC will see hosts England against New Zealand this weekend while South Africa plays defending champion Australia.

England recorded a sixth successive victory in the tournament, thanks to an utterly dominant first half, during which they displayed flair and control at both ends of the court.

England coach Tracey Neville named a strong starting line-up for the match, the result of which would decide who would contest which semi-final.

Her counterpar­t, Nora Plummer, elected to leave Erin Burger on the bench.

England led 31-20 lead at the break, but Housby remained on for the full match and helped England to win 58-47.
