Car show for charity

- By FELIX CHAUDHARY

A NADI businessman is organising a charity car show to raise funds for St Mina’s orphanage, Nadi, and the Golden Age Home, Lautoka.

Sharoof Shah, director of Shah Enterprise, said the show was being organised in memory of his late sister Suhaylah Shagufta Shah.

“I spent very little time with my sister before she passed away and I always see her face when I visit the kids at St Mina’s orphanage and that is why I always assist them in whatever way I can,” he said.

“I am also raising money for the Golden Age Home in Lautoka in memory of my late grandparents — Haji Abdul Khalil Shah and Hajjan Zubeda Khatoon and my late father-in-law Sheik Abdul Shariff.

“The charity car show will be held on Saturday August 17 at the Namaka Public School grounds from 4pm onwards.

“All the money raised at the event will go to charity — 50 per cent to St Mina’s and 50 per cent to the Golden Age Home.

“I hope to raise more than $3000 and this will be achieved from vehicle entry fees, stall fees, spectators entry fees and we are also welcoming individuals and business houses if they want to contribute and donate funds as well to what I believe is a very worthy cause.”

Mr Shah said previous car shows he had organised had attracted about 150 vehicles.

He said the charity event would include car demos, food stalls, fire dancers, a DJ, modern dancers, raffle draws for spectators, bouncy castles, candy floss and popcorn stalls and kids carnival rides.
