Series for surfers

- FIJI SURFING ASSOCIATION

THE Hot Bread Kitchen Micro Grommet series will kick off with round one on August 24 at Natadola.

This exciting contest format is designed especially for the under-14, U12 and U10 boys and girls.

The series has two rounds of competition. The first at Natadola on August 24 and the second again at Natadola on October 5.

Competitors will surf once in both rounds and their best two rides will be tallied then added together.

After round two the points from both rounds will be tallied to decide the first, second and third places. So all competitors will surf twice in total.

Now in its fourth year, it has seen many enthusiastic children come along and have a go and some for the first time.

The event was previously sponsored by Rip Curl and we are excited that Hot Bread Kitchen has come on board to support grassroots surfing.

The Fiji Surfing Association believes this series provides a new experience for young male and female surfers, encouraging them to get more involved in the Olympics sport of surfing.

By increasing the number of grassroot surfers, we should start to discover some talented young surfers.

As an added incentive to attend the InterContinental Resort at Natadola is giving our competitors’ families a discounted rate to stay the night.

Contact the resort and quote FSA to get the discounted rate but be quick before the rooms are grabbed.

Several of the series original surfers such as Kalani, Kiesha and Kayla Wakeham, John Vasea and Api Tibinaliva have gone on to represent Fiji in the world junior surfing titles.

Who will be the next rising star that comes from this event?

Contact headcoach@ surfingfiji.org for more info or to enter and please include the surfers date of birth.
