FICAC given three weeks
THE Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has been given three weeks to file submissions in the case involving Suva lawyer Aseri Vakaloloma and businessman Benjamin Padarath. Both men had been given suspended sentences by the Suva Magistrates Court for forgery. The incident occurred between October 14, 2009 and December 31, 2009. Mr Vakaloloma is appealing his conviction and sentence while FICAC is appealing the lenient sentence of the two men. Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza informed FICAC to file formal papers to state that they were not proceeding the case against Mr Vakaloloma. Both men are on bail. The case has been adjourned to November 14.
