“WORDS cannot describe what I'm feeling right now and only God knows what I've sacrificed to come this far."

These were the words of 25-year-old Kula Uwate Caqeua Koroiradinibau Rauvi after he was sworn in as a new lawyer at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

The Tawava, Kadavu native said it was through perseverance and determination that made him reach this far.

"I am so excited and words cannot describe how I'm feeling right now.

“The only thing I could say is firstly, I want to thank God, the almighty God for his guidance and protection in navigating my career path throughout until today.

“I also want to thank my mum Francis Rauvi and my dad Jone Rauvi as well as my brother and sister Josaia and Veniana Beni Rauvi," he said.

Rauvi took up law because he wanted to be the first lawyer in his family and wanted to make his mother proud.

"My mum wanted a lawyer in the family so I told her not to worry, I'll be that person that you're looking for that will deal with legal matters and help the family in legal matters.

"I am the first lawyer in my family and I couldn't be more proud. My parents, like every other parent, would be more proud. They are very emotional and at the same time proud of my achievement," he said.

Besides that, I am a talkative person and I am more interested in learning and knowing about new rules and histories about legal matters in this country," he added.

Rauvi also has a passion for music but with his new admission to the Bar as a legal practitioner in Fiji, he said he was thankful.

"I am more interested in music and now I am so grateful that I am a lawyer, and I would be helping everyone.

“I love working with people and anticipate helping the public be responsible citizens and help Fiji to be a better place," he said.

Rauvi advises young people to believe in themselves and to work hard towards their goals.

"Be courageous and work towards your goal and you will finally get it if you hold on to it," he said.

"Don't leave school and also keep aiming high and moving forward and don't look back. It's an honour to be here, being admitted to the Bar.

“A big thank you to everyone who journeyed with me this far and I couldn't be more thankful for all your support," he added.
