Authority cautions motorcycle drivers
ANYONE caught driving a motorcycle without an approved number plate will be issued with a traffic infringement notice of $100.
In a statement, the Land Transport Authority said they noticed motorcycles on our roads with non-approved rear number plates.
“These vehicles may not operate on Fijian roads,” the statement said.
“It is mandatory for all motorcycles to go through a LTA authentication process which includes the fixing of the approved number plate by the LTA before operating on any Fiji road.”
LTA said approved number plates were needed for legal and safety reasons.
“Motorcyclists are advised to take heed of this warning as police and LTA will be paying particular attention to this aspect of compliance with the law.”
