Fake notes discovery

POLICE are pleading for informatio­n that will assist them with investigat­ions into the five recent discoverie­s of fake notes within the Central, Southern and Eastern divisions during the past week. Police spokeswoma­n Ana Naisoro confirmed the first report was received at the Totogo Police Station in Suva where a 60-year-old shop owner received a fake $50 note from an unknown person with the serial number FFC9413078. A second note with the same serial number was produced at a barbecue stall in Nakasi, and again a few days later at a supermarke­t in Raiwaqa, Suva. “The latest report was received on Monday at the Nasinu Police Station by a 37-year-old self-employed man who was depositing money into his account at a bank located in Nakasi when the teller discovered a fake $50 note with the serial number FFC4984851,” she said. Members of the public are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 919 if they have any informatio­n.
