‘Chance of a lifetime’

VODAFONE Fiji Bati Residents coach Brandon Costin says his players have been given the chance of a lifetime with Australia Prime Minister’s XIII showcasing a star-studded roll of National Rugby League players in next week’s Test here in Suva.

“What an opportunity for our young players who come from local villages in Fiji,” Costin said.

“Every single one of these players was born in Fiji. They went to school in Fiji and they get to play against the best rugby league nation in the world.

“The PM XIII team is very strong and as expected there will be NRL players while we have none.

“We are definitely going to be the underdogs and we need all the support we can get,”

Costin said it was also a chance for Fiji rugby league players to showcase themselves on what is expected to be a great contest.

“Regardless of the score line, this is an amazing opportunity for the development of these players and maybe if they can showcase some of their Fijian flair and an NRL scout may tap them on the shoulder.

“When that happens, we know we have done our part in helping enrich the lives of our young Fijian players both men and women.”

The men’s and Bulikula teams have been training for some time for the event.

The Vodafone Fiji Bati Residents take on the Australia Prime Minister XIII next Friday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Fans have been urged to support the tournament.
