NRL star Sivo will play for Fiji Bati
PARRAMATTA Eels rugby league team finisher Maika Sivo will feature for the Vodafone Fiji Bati in the coming World Nines and Fiji’s November Tests.
“He is available and will be playing in the World Nines as well as November,” confirmed Fiji Bati head coach Brandon Costin.
The revelation came after Sivo scooped the Ken Irvine Medal during the annual National Rugby League Dally M award this week in Australia despite missing out on taking the NRL Rookie of the Year award.
“In my mind I think he should have won the rookie of the year and congratulations to Brisbane Broncos’ Payne Haas,” coach Costin said.
“For Sivo, it is well deserved. He’s a very exciting player and has had an amazing season.”
Sivo ended his debut season for the Parramatta Eels with 22 tries in 25 appearances and a 3658 running metres.
However, Costin said Sivo would miss the first November Test match in Samoa after copping a suspension during the final week for a grade one shoulder charge on Melbourne Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen.
“He will miss that first Test against Samoa, but will be back in the next game against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls.”
The World Nines will be held at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney Australia on October 18 and 19.
