Khelawan takes Nadi golf title

VETERAN Ram Khelawan took out the Mali Pest Control sponsored grand season opening event at the Nadi Airport Golf Club Course.

The former Plantation Open champion who is making a comeback on the golfing scene after a short break, found his rhythm in the stableford event.

Khelawan claimed the top spot in the A Grade after scoring 38 points.

Semisi Tubuna was second with 34 points. Nadi Airport Golf Club interim financial controller Mark Hinton finished third with 32 points.

Balram Kistaya won the B Grade after a countback from Asish Patel. Kistaya and Patel both scored 35 points.

Mohammed Imran was third with 32 points.

Richard claimed the C Grade with a score of 38 points. Salen Kumar was second with 36 points while Doctor Saras Naidu was third with 35 points.

William Hill won the junior category. He edged Willian Ban following a countback. Both golfers scored 36 points.

Zandar claimed the third spot with 32 points.

Janic Hinton continued her fine form winning the ladies category. She scored 37 points. Sulu Brooks was second with 32 points while Ana Dunn was third with 28 points.

James Pridgeon hit the longest drive. Hem Chand, Kistaya and Brooks won the nearest to the pin prizes.

NAGC interim financial controller Mark said more than $2000 worth of prizes were handed out at the grand opening tournament presentati­on ceremony.

He said they recorded 45 starters. “The course is in great condition and we will host the Gecko Trucking sponsored monthly medal tournament this Saturday,” Mark said.
